Fewer and fewer stores sell it and it's becoming a major hunt to find rye flour. Last time I found a small bag in a health food store. What killed me is it was light rye, no dark was available. I guess it's become an internet purchase next time. Any good online purveyors?

Re: Rye
Fri, March 6, 2009 - 7:13 AMI get dark rye at our local co-op in the bulk section. If that's not happening for you, you can get it from www.bobsredmill.com/ for about $4/bag. I generally like their flours. -

Re: Rye
Fri, March 6, 2009 - 9:22 AMWow! I have seen various redmill items on store shelves here and there, but I had no idea they had such a huge variety of grains, mixes and yummy stuff! I will have to share this with my daughter. She's developed a low tolerance for gluten, although doesn't seem to have to completely eliminate it if she's careful. But she also wants to open a vegan bakery/coffeeshop when she gets her degree, so she'll have plenty of time to experiment with many of these flour blends and expand her recipe collection.

The yeasts are slower to act and need time to build a critical mass
